When it comes to General Hospital, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of the GH week that was.
General Hospital: A Critic’s Week In Review
Come on General Hospital, when are we going to get some payoff? It’s been months and we’re still no closer to seeing justice served for Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) – despite Spencer Cassadine’s (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) best efforts. And please, please just tell us who Esme Prince’s (Avery Kristen Pohl) biological mother is. Sure, it won’t make any logical sense if it’s Felicia Scorpio (Kristina Wagner), but at this point, I’ll accept even that. Plus, when’s the last time a soap was concerned with logic?
It’s been four months since Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) slinked back into town and nearly that long since we the audience have known that something shady is going on betwixt him and Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy), and we’ve still yet to be let in on the secret. The one silver lining of this storyline, however, is that Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) is well and truly onto the mess. How nice it is to see my favorite spymistress being written as possessing more than a modicum of intelligence. I was beginning to worry after the Peter debacle.
Elsewhere, Sasha Gilmore Corbin (Sofia Mattsson) is continuing the downward spiral she’s been on since Liam Michael’s death back in December, Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) and Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) are continuing to dance around their feelings for one another, and there has been no progress made whatsoever on the “What’s Ailing Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst)?” front.
Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen) learned that she was with child, but not so heavy that it explains why she’s been feeling like death warmed over since March (and looking like it since early last week). There’s clearly something more going on there, but when will we ever become privy to it?
General Hospital is never lacking in good setup. It’s the follow-through that they clearly have a problem with.
Further GH Musings
* I could be wrong here, but I’m pretty sure that the laws that govern daytime dramas dictate that Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) must be the one to purchase what was once Carly Corinthos’s (Laura Wright) share of the Metro Court.
* Is Olivia Falconeri Quartermaine (Lisa LoCicero) ever on her husband’s side? Years ago, Liv was one of my favorite General Hospital characters, but she’s been reduced to nothing more than a judgmental shrew.
* When exactly did TJ Ashford (Tajh Bellow) become all pro-Trina? Have they even shared more than a scene or two? And how is TJ’s domestic partner going to feel when she learns that he’s actively trying to prove the innocence of the woman she’s working to convict? Let’s not forget that Molly Lansing-Davis (Haley Pullos) is on the wrong side of this case.
