When it comes to General Hospital, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of the GH week that was.
All in all, this was another enjoyable week. The wackadoodle goings on at Wyndemere came to a rip-roaring conclusion, and if I had one major grouse, it would be that THIS was the proper time to have pitchy princess Felicia (Kristina Wagner) fell the bad guy. I’m still surly that it was she who introduced that tire iron to Peter’s noggin and not Maxie (Kirsten Storms). Still, Mac (John J. York) was an acceptable substitute assassin.
I also have to offer Chris and Dan/Dan and Chris a major mea culpa. For months now I’ve been bracing myself for an onslaught of disparaging comments/slut-shaming directed at Portia (Brook Kerr) and/or an out-and-out vilifying of the character, but the duo subverted my expectations.
Not only did Taggert (Real Andrews) treat his ex with considerable grace, but Trina (Tabyana Ali) even admitted she still loved her mother and the two of them would get past the issue — eventually — and Marshall’s (Robert Gossett) harshest criticism was that his daughter-in-law was only human.
I very much look forward to watching mother and daughter slowly but surely achieving rapprochement. I’ve already very much had it with pouty, pissy Curtis (Donnell Turner).
* Kudos, all the kudos to Alley Mills [Heather Webber], Avery Kristen Pohl [Esme Prince], and the always underrated, regrettably underutilized Sofia Mattsson [Sasha Gilmore].
* I cannot begin to tell you how tickled it makes me that Michael (Chad Duell) and Josslyn (Eden McCoy) are now actively working to keep Sonny (Maurice Benard) away from his loved ones — which is exactly what will happen once he’s behind bars — when that is the exact thing that they rake Nina (Cynthia Watros) over the coals for. How do they not see the irony? IT’S RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEIR SELF-ABSORBED FACES!
* My goodness, that four seasons sunroom set is so dang bright and airy. I’ve never been so envious of a set before. Well, I tell a lie. There has been a lot of soap sets that I’ve quite fancied (the Alden mansion on Loving, Margo Dorn’s/April & Draper’s penthouse on The Edge of Night, John and Marlena’s original penthouse on Days of our Lives to name a few). Still, the Quartermaine year-round add-on is a visual delight.
