A Critic’s Review Of General Hospital: Monsoon Of Retribution & Payoffs

The author’s opinions on GH are his and his alone. They’re suitably scathing, fairly humorous, and normally bang on target.

When it comes to General Hospital, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of the GH week that was.

General Hospital: The Critic’s POV

On the one hand, I am glad that the storyline some have dubbed Sasha’s Never-Ending Trauma has, FINALLY, come to a decided conclusion. On the other hand, I feel severely underwhelmed and even outright disappointed in how that conclusion was reached.

First and foremost, why couldn’t Sasha (Sofia Mattsson) have been the heroine of her own story rather than a damsel awaiting rescue by heroic Cody (Josh Kelly)? (And could it have been any more obvious that there wasn’t some “grand plan” put into place by the Port Charles brain trust?)

Secondly, where’s the monsoon of retribution that should be coming to Gladys’ (Bonnie Burroughs) way? I mean, she gets yelled at by a couple of people and then banished back to her comfy home in Bridgeport? Huh?

In light of such a disheartening denouement, I’m now chagrined to even hope that the other pressing storylines — Charlotte’s (Scarlett Fernandez) stalking of Anna (Finola Hughes), the outing of Nina’s (Cynthia Watros) big secret, Cyrus’s (Jeff Kober) attempts to eliminate Sonny (Maurice Benard), Ava’s (Maura West) concerning disappearance, heck, even Nikolas’s (Adam Huss) imminent return to PC — might have an appreciable climax.

What do you think? Post a comment!

Further GH Musings

* Was anyone actually surprised that it was Tracy (Jane Elliot) who (inadvertently) clued Chase (Josh Swickard) in on Gregory’s (Gregory Harrison) ALS diagnosis? That was just Lazy Soap Opera Writing 101.

* Congratulations to Sprina fans who were able to bask in the afterglow of Spencer and Trina’s romantic New York tryst.
