General Hospital fans were both shocked and thrilled last week to learn that Chad Brannon would be returning to the soap. He was once a hit as Zander Smith, Emily Quartermaine’s great love — and also the father of Cameron Webber, Elizabeth’s oldest son.
Welcome Back, Chad Brannon
After playing Zander from 2000-2004, he later returned as a lookalike character, Aaron. As Zander is dead, he made a brief ghostly return in 2009 to welcome Natalia Livington’s Emily to heaven. There is no word yet on who Brannon will play this time around nor how long his comeback will last.
But thanks to the actor, we already know he has taped some scenes as he posted an Instagram video of himself outside the General Hospital studios, as well as a few pics of when he arrived inside.
“Well, walking to someplace a little familiar,” he said from the parking lot with the General Hospital sign behind him. “Oh boy, General Hospital, here we come. And I guess they also share with Grey’s Anatomy. Isn’t that nice?” Indeed, we could also see the Grey-Sloane Memorial Hospital sign not far from the GH sign.
If Zander is somehow alive and not making a ghostly appearance, that would certainly shake things up for the Webber-Baldwin family. Franco (Roger Howarth) and Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) are already dealing with his brain tumor and Peter’s voice inside his head. This would just add to things. Of course, maybe he is only making a brief spiritual visit to Cameron to help guide him in his life now that he fears he may lose his stepfather.
Rumor has it, Brannon is not the only surprise comeback expected in the coming months and we can’t wait to see what — and who — else GH has in store. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
