When General Hospital dug way, way back into Laura’s origins to give her Cyrus Renault and Martin Grey as brothers, we knew Denise Alexander couldn’t be too far behind as Lesley and it turns out we were right.
Denise Alexander Returns
According to Soap Opera Digest, the actress is bringing Laura’s mom back to Port Charles. We’re sure Lesley has some explaining to do as she likely knew Laura’s (Genie Francis) bio dad had two sons and what happened to him after he and his family left Port Charles. It’s hard to think that Lesley never kept track.
Alexander originated the role of Lesley Williams in 1973 and at the time, Lesley had believed Laura died in childbirth. When she learned that was not true, she tracked her daughter down and tried to forge a relationship with her.
Eventually, a teenage Laura began living with Lesley and her then-husband, Rick Webber (Christopher Robinson), and Laura took on Rick’s last name. She left the show in 1984 when Lesley was presumed dead, but returned in the 90s when it turned out Lesley was indeed alive.
The actress has brought Lesley home from living abroad twice in the last few years. She made it to PC in the nick of time to be there for Laura when she wed Dr. Kevin Collins back in 2017. She also returned in 2019 when the soap paid tribute to Susan Brown, who played Dr. Gail Baldwin. Brown had passed away and the soap wrote Gail’s death into the story although she had not been seen on screen in several years.
Does Laura seek out her mother now to learn more about Cyrus (Jeff Kober) and Martin (Michael E. Knight) or does Lesley voluntarily return to Port Charles because she hears there may be trouble afoot? Stay tuned to find out. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC.
