Days of our Lives star Alison Sweeney is no stranger to working with some of the biggest daytime stars in her Hallmark films and she’ll be re-teaming with one of her favorites — Cameron Mathison — before he makes his daytime return on General Hospital.
ET Online broke the story that Sweeney and All My Children alum Cameron Mathison are filming a new installment of the popular Murder, She Baked movie franchise, with a new mystery in tow.
Sweeney shared the ET story on her Instagram page saying, “Thank you to all the fans who have kept their enthusiasm for Hannah and her crime solving ways,” she posted next to the announcement. “I’m so thrilled to announce that Hannah Swensen is BACK!! Thank you @hallmarkmovie & #joannefluke for bringing these characters to life. I’m so so so thrilled with this newest Mystery and I hope you’ll all love it too! Hannah, Mike Norman … and of course Delores are coming THIS SUMMER!!!”
Sweeney returns as Hannah Swensen in the sixth installment of the franchise, while Mathison is back as her love, Mike Kingston. Barbara Niven will also return as Hannah’s mom, Delores Swensen.
“I’m so excited to revisit Hannah Swensen and to again work with Cameron and Barbara on these fun stories that combine romance with intrigue,” Sweeney said. “The fans have been so vocal in their love of these characters and it’s exciting to be bringing them back to life and to return to Hannah’s bakery where it all began.”
Mathison also shared the news on his Instagram saying, “Incredibly excited to be back on set with [Alison Sweeney] for another Hannah Swenson mystery!!!! Yesterday was my first day on set and I was bouncing off the walls I was so happy to be back at it 😀 (also because I ate tons of cookies and cream puffs in the scenes we shot🤣)
Super grateful to all of the fans that love Hannah, Mike, Norman, Delores and the gang, and wanted us to continue having fun and solving murders 🙂 You’re gonna love this one🙏🏼💪🏼❤️ Coming this summer!!”
The new mystery will find Hannah and Mike enjoying their engagement despite the pressures of their busy careers. When someone is found murdered at Hannah’s gym, their wedding plans are somewhat interrupted as Hannah’s need for sleuthing gets in the way of her fiancée’s investigation.
Production begins this week in Vancouver and it’s set to premiere this summer on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
Mathison is wrapping up his co-hosting duties on Hallmark Channel’s Home & Family in August and is headed back to daytime, with an undisclosed role on General Hospital. Meanwhile, Sweeney has been having a blast being back on DAYS and stirring up trouble as only Sami Brady can.
