General Hospital’s Jordan Ashford has experienced a lot of turmoil in her time in Port Charles, and her portrayer Briana Nicole Henry just confirmed that the character’s latest challenge is resulting in the actress leaving the show.
The actress, who made her debut in September of 2018, took to Instagram to reveal the sad news. “I suppose it is that time isn’t it,” she wrote. “As I celebrated my third year of being on General Hospital yesterday, I also watched my last episode as Jordan Ashford air. People kept asking me how it felt to have ended my time on the show, and it wasn’t until yesterday that it really sank in, as I watched Jordan’s goodbye to her family and knew the tears you saw were real tears between not just colleagues but friends.”
When the Commissioner said goodbye, her one good kidney was faltering, so she headed to Albany for help, leaving her soon-to-be-ex Curtis wondering if they would rekindle their love. Seems like that won’t be the case now.
“I decided it was time for me to move on from @generalhospitalabc and I got nothing but love and support from everyone involved,” Henry said. “Not to mention was given the most beautiful send [off] that left me quite literally shaken.”
She went on to thank those she worked with as part of the GH family, sending special shout-outs to executive producer Frank Valentini and security guard Emma. She also sent gratitude to her cast who helped make her a better actor and those in the show who helped nurture and challenged her ability.
“There were multiple people on any given day that brought such a smile and warmth to my heart,” she posted. “To the fans, it took me a while to win you over, but once you saw my heart you made me feel so much love. I hope I brought something unique and honest to your beloved character of Jordan Ashford, she’s one helluva woman. Until next time loves.”
Vinessa Antoine originated the role of Jordan Ashford, playing her from 2014 – 2018. She left GH to shoot the lead in the Canadian show, Diggstown, and the show recast the police commissioner with Henry. Will Antoine return to the role she created? Her primetime show has gone three seasons so far. Even if she isn’t available, the show may choose to recast the role down the line.
