GH Is Letting Brad Slip Slowly, and Right in Front of Us

Brad shows subtle warning signs that he may be coping in ways that could spiral into alcoholism if left unchecked.

Britt didn’t slap Brad because she felt like causing a scene on General Hospital. She slapped him because he walked into a moment he clearly didn’t understand and decided to inject his trademark snark. Jason was gone, shipped off under circumstances that didn’t add up, and Britt was still trying to make sense of what happened. Then Brad comes in, wraps it up in a neat little bow, and tells her she’s better off without Jason. That’s not comforting at all, and Britt reacted the only honest way left to her in that moment. And once that line got crossed, you could feel something else start to shift underneath it.

Key Takeaways

  • Britt slaps Brad after he makes a poorly timed comment about Jason.
  • Brad fails to read Britt’s emotional state during a tense moment.
  • She explains what really happened and pulls Brad into the truth.
  • Brad is shown openly drinking from a flask during the conversation.
  • This may signal the start of a larger problem.

The Disconnect Isn’t Loud, But It’s There

Brad (Parry Shen) didn’t ease into that conversation. He didn’t read Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) first, and didn’t check where she was emotionally. He just dropped his take and expected her to find it just as hilarious as he did. Only she didn’t.

Britt was already rattled and shaken up to a near nervous breakdown. She had been questioning what had happened on the pier, trying to remember any detail that would help. Add to that the weight of being told to back up Jason’s (Steve Burton) version of events without proof. Thus, she wasn’t in a position to hear his snark.

So when she hit him, it wasn’t just about the comment. It was about him missing the moment entirely. Afterward, she pulled him into the truth by explaining what actually happened and walked him through the danger she was still in. He ultimately realized that Jason wasn’t the problem, and he ended the sarcasm.

The Shift Shows Up in the Smallest Ways

Then there’s the flask of liquor he was drinking out of. It wasn’t hidden in a pocket for later, or tucked neatly in a briefcase. It was out in the open. He sipped from it while she was talking, while she was trying to piece things together.

And the show lets those moments hang in the air, as if dangling a future plot thread in front of the viewers. It doesn’t cut away fast or treat it like a throwaway detail. It sits there just long enough to register as something more than a quirk.

And that’s where it turns. If Brad’s drinking mid-conversation, mid-crisis, while someone else is still trying to make sense of what just happened, that’s not casual anymore. That’s the start of a problem. Let’s face it, no one carries around a flask unless they’re starting to develop a drinking problem, and this could be the path that Brad is heading down. And no one’s realizing it. (Could Lucas (Van Hansis) replace Brad as Britt’s bestie?)
