Bon Voyage Drew: Will You Miss Billy Miller On General Hospital?

In 2014, General Hospital pulled off a major casting coup when it managed to lure three-time Emmy champion Billy Miller away from The Young and the Restless. And they certainly gave him a primo introduction with the reveal that his amnesiac character was none other than uber-popular Jason Morgan.

But, once the hype died down, the magic seemed to dissipate and after the soap was able to secure to return of the “actual” Jason (actor Steve Burton), Miller was taken in a different direction.

Turns out his character was Jason’s heretofore unknown identical twin brother to Jason, whose bruised and battered face had been altered through plastic surgery.

With the “new” character now rudderless (he was no longer the love of Sam’s life — that’s Jason after all —  and he certainly wasn’t chummy with Jason’s pals Sonny and Carly) the soap had to figure out what to do with him. Enter former lover Kim Nero and Oscar the product of their long-ago love affair.

Problem is Billy Miller and Tamara Braun just didn’t click as the show had expected and the writers later killed Oscar off with a brain tumor.

Now, word has come down that Miller will be biding GH adieu in the very near future and Soap Hub wants to know how you feel about that. Are you upset, sad, indifferent? Will you even miss Miller once he’s gone? Here’s what nearly 8,000 of you said:

Say It Ain’t So
The overwhelming majority is sad to see such a talented actor go to waste. The final tally shows that over 87% of you wish Miller wasn’t leaving. You feel that if the writers had just a little more time they could certainly craft a story worthy of this man’s talent.

And sure, Braun had more chemistry with William DeVry’s Julian, but that doesn’t mean they can’t find an actress capable of heating up the screen with mega-millionaire Drew Cain. Besides, Scout needs her Daddy to stay put in Port Charles.

We Get It
Still, there’s 12% of you who won’t miss Miller that much once he’s gone. For many of you, it’s been clear since the return of Burton that Miller simply had no real place on the GH canvas. You wish GH had found a better place for him, but since it didn’t, you totally get why Biller chose to leave. General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
