Too Bad Alexis and Valentin Are General Hospital Siblings

It’s no secret that Alexis needs more comfort than just what booze can give her on General Hospital. The show wrote Julian straight into a corner, and that relationship can never be repaired and a new love interest would do her some good.

But, of course, the latest actor on GH to share palpable chemistry with Nancy Lee Grahn is James Patrick Stuart–who plays her brother.

If it feels like we’ve been down this road before, it’s because we have. When Alexis first came on the Port Charles scene, Grahn had perfect chemistry with Stephen Nichols–who like Stuart, played her brother.

Stefan and Alexis had so much chemistry they even had their own fan contingent who called themselves The Gutter Rats, who always hoped they would turn out not to be siblings at all. They hoped Helena had an affair that produced Stefan (possibly explaining why she never liked him and favored Stavros), which would wipe away any blood relation with Alexis. That never came to fruition, and now Alexis has another half brother on the scene.

On Wednesday, we learned just how formidable the team of Valentin and Alexis could be. Every time he called her “sis” we cringed, as did Alexis. When he accused her of being just like him–a castoff from Mikkos and victim of Helena–we knew Alexis needed to pick up a drink. When he lifted that letter opener that she used the day before to open that booze box, it was even reminiscent of Julian holding the dagger to her neck, and we were glued to the screen.

Sometimes a brother and sister team can be just what a soap needs, but sometimes when there’s so much chemistry between two actors, we need more. However, this is going to be a formidable match whether romantic or not, and we can’t wait to see what happens next.
