Adam Huss Talks Stepping In Briefly as General Hospital’s Nikolas

Wondering who that was stepping in for Marcus Coloma yesterday as Nikolas Cassadine on General Hospital? The role was played for the day by actor Adam Huss. Soap Hub checked in with the performer to talk about his visit to Port Charles and where you can see him next.

“I really had such a blast,” Huss shares. “Any fear I had of coming in and stepping into the role for a brief time was curbed by how welcoming everyone was!” The actor shares that he’s kept an eye on GH over the years as he has auditioned and/or tested for roles on the ABC soap opera. To help prepare for this current gig, he says he “watched a lot of Nikolas’s backstory scenes. It’s such a well-done, well-acted show.”

Huss says that can’t thank enough GH personnel for their support in making this appearance happen. “Mark Teschner [casting director] is a gem of a man as is his whole team,” the actor acknowledges. “They have really believed in me and been on my side to get me on the show for some time.”

The actor also gives kudos to scene partners Maura West (Ava) and Kin Shriner (Scotty), describing them as “consummate professionals who are very talented and so open. [They] helped loosen up any nerves and that allowed me to have fun making choices off of their electric dynamic. They are very welcoming as well!”

GH isn’t Huss’s first daytime serial. Veteran soap fans may recall him from his stint a while back on The Bold and the Beautiful. He played the character of Lance, who was lured into Sheila Carter’s (Kimberlin Brown) plan to break up Amber Moore (Adrienne Frantz) and Rick Forrester (then, Justin Torkildsen). Poor Lance, who was allergic to buzzing insects, met a fateful end when Sheila unleashed a swarm of bees into his apartment, killing him.

One Lifetime To Live

Huss can be seen next in the Lifetime movie Fighting For Her Family, which airs on Sunday, October 17 at 8 p.m. “It’s a real tearjerker!” the actor previews. “We filmed at the height of the pandemic and I am very proud of the work we did.”

The movie is inspired by a true story, telling the tale of a married couple Devina (Aisha Kumari) and Rick (played by Adam Huss), who discover that they’re expecting a baby. Midway through her pregnancy, Devina learns that she has a life-threatening blood disorder. Will she be able to carry to term and live to see her baby? Additionally, Huss can be seen as Kantos in the first three seasons of the series Powers, available on Hulu.
