Craig Erwich, President, Hulu Originals & ABC Entertainment, fielded questions from reporters from across the nation during the Winter TV critics press tour. Soap Hub was on the scene to get the scoop on General Hospital and other soap opera-related stories.
ABC/Hulu Exec Praises General Hospital
Last year, peacock, NBC’s streaming service, streamed two Days of our Lives projects in an effort to bring fans of the broadcast soap opera over to the peacock. First, there was Days of our Lives: Beyond Salem, a five-episode mini-series.
After the success of that, Peacock ordered Days of our Lives: A Very Salem Christmas, which was available on Peacock Premium. Might we see General Hospital content on Hulu, the streaming service that’s owned majorly by The Walk Disney Company, which also owns ABC (GH’s broadcaster)?
“General Hospital is having a great season as it has for many of the past decades,” Erwich told Soap Hub. “We’re always open to exploring additional iterations or explorations of that franchise. The show is having a great year. We’re open.”

How Green Is Pine Valley
Soap Hub also queried Erwich on any updates on Pine Valley, the nighttime series based on All My Children. In late 2020, Soap Hub picked up Variety’s report that former AMC stars Kelly Ripa (Hayley) and Mark Consuelos (Mateo) were helping develop Pine Valley along with Robert Nixon, son of AMC’s late creator Agnes Nixon.
Pine Valley is set to tell the story of a new journalist who comes to town to do an expose on some of the murderous scandals that happened in the Pennsylvania suburb. The journalist then ends up entangled with the Kane and Santos clans.
General Hospital Streams on Hulu
While GH airs on ABC and streams on Hulu (the next day), there’s no word on Pine Valley airing anywhere — at least right now. “I don’t have any updates on that project right now,” Erwich replied.
