A Critic’s Review Of General Hospital: Scene-Stealers, Vilified & Belittled

The author’s opinions on GH are his and his alone. They’re suitably scathing, fairly humorous, and normally bang on target.

When it comes to General Hospital, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of the GH week that was.

General Hospital: The Critic’s POV

You’re perfectly within your right to call me a madman, but hear me out: Jane Elliot [Tracy Quartermaine] and that sweet little babe that plays Ace are General Hospital’s MVPs.

I spent nearly two-thirds of an episode stifling giggles all owning to Elliot’s delivery of the simple lines “I don’t like your tone” — said in response to a comment made by granddaughter Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) — and “Her hair was different” — said in response to hearing that the young woman standing before [the very same one she’d just castigated for merely being] was Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) who’d only just been to the mansion the day before.

And as for the talented tyke who steals every scene he’s in, the best of the best of which was his reaction to Tabyana Ali’s [Trina Robinson] line about Spencer (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) being a pain in the, well, you know. I swear his expressive little face said, “Huh? What was that? What were you really going to say there, lady?”

Further GH Musings

* Given that Emma Samms [Holly Sutton] isn’t sticking around for the long haul, why should I invest in the budding Holly/Robert/Diane love triangle?

* Oh, here’s hoping that when Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) is cured — because we all know that she will be — she and Michael (Chad Duell) really do go on that trip to France.

* Okay, I think I’ve sussed out where this “Bring Sonny To Justice” storyline is going, and that’s Dex (Evan Hofer) and Josslyn (Eden McCoy) going against Michael’s wishes and realizing the evidence compiled against him and then [possibly] going on the run in the aftermath of Sonny’s arrest.

If that is indeed the case, my question is this: WHY?! As if Sonny wouldn’t let Dex walk away from the organization. Hello, Max. Hello, Milo. Jason, at various points in time. Spinelli (Bradford Anderson).

* Poor Ned (Wally Kurth). Poor, poor Ned. First, he was vilified for not wanting to be pushed out of his family’s company by upstarts/usurpers Michael and Drew (Cameron Mathison), and now, he’s taking the blame for Nina’s (Cynthia Watros) call to the SEC.

At his point, I have to wonder, do Chris and Dan/Dan and Chris really think Olivia’s (Lisa LoCicero) constant belittling of and harping on Ned and constant prioritizing of Carly (Laura Wright) over him is funny and/or a good look for the character because…I don’t. On either score.

* So…the Pikeman Group is a shadowy affiliate of the US government? That’s…timely…maybe…It’s also a choice. An odd, odd choice.
