When it comes to General Hospital, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of the GH week that was.

General Hospital: A Critic’s Week In Review

I know everyone is expecting me to sing Kirsten Storms’s praises, and I will get to that, and more. But first, I want to thank General Hospital for referencing, whether purposefully or not, one of the most seminal moments of 1990’s television. Carly Corinthos’s (Laura Wright), “I’m choosing myself,” was pitch-perfect Kelly Taylor. I squinted, and just for a moment, I could swear I was watching 90210.

Now, for what you all came here for. Storms was a revelation. And kudos are also due to Amanda Setton and Josh Swickard for their work as Brook Lynn Quartermaine and Harrison Chase. And what can one say about Genie Francis (Laura) and Kristina Wagner (Felicia)?

I’d like to particularly single out Wagner because I’ve never been her biggest fan – it has something to do with that frequently commented upon baby-doll voice and those vacant expressions she frequently employs – but darn it if she didn’t have me tearing up in those scenes where Felicia sat by Mac Scorpio’s (John J. York) bedside and willed him back to consciousness. And that classic Mac/Felicia flashback? Superb!

What do you think? Post a comment!

Further GH Musings

* A Little Research Goes A Long Way: Unless he was just going by town lore, there’s no way that Jimmy Lee Holt would know that Laura was a woman to be reckoned with. The characters never crossed paths on-screen.

* In my humble opinion, Genie Francis stole the entire week out from under her General Hospital castmates when her Laura wrapped Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy) into that hug and promised she’d see him brought to justice.

* Carly: How many times did you want [to sleep with Nina]? … Sonny: Maybe as many times as you wanted it to happen with Jason. Hammer…Nail!
