A Critic’s Review of General Hospital: No Justice In Port Charles

When it comes to General Hospital, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of the GH week that was.

General Hospital: A Critic’s Week In Review

So, Peter (Wes Ramsey) has poisoned Chase (Josh Swickard), and he’s refused to hand the antidote over which leaves Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) with nothing better to do than twiddle their thumbs, yell at Carly (Laura Wright) when she calls them out on their failures, and then pretend like they can suddenly help in bringing down Cyrus (Jeff Kober)?

How can that possibly hope to eliminate the threat that is “I Want My Mommy” Renault, when they can’t even contain Peter. And speaking of Peter, are we to just assume that he’s getting away with possibly killing Chase? Is justice, in any form, a foreign concept on this show? Has a single good guy won a single victory in the whole of this year or the last? Will the madness ever end? The chances look slim.

And speaking of never-ending, we’re still having to endure the torturous “Battle for Nixon Falls” storyline. Maybe we’d actually care if anybody in the town – save for Lenny (Rif Hutton) and Phyllis (Joyce Guy) – were rootable. So far, we’ve met a less than helpful Sherriff, a gun-toting criminal, and some fistfight-minded yokels. Who cares if this town is saved?

Move Lenny and the Mrs. back to Port Charles, slap Sonny (Maurice Benard) upside the head with a rake, or shovel, or something else farms-y so he can get his memory back, and then work double-time to try and salvage Nina (Cynthia Watros) while there’s still a glimmer of hope.

Further GH Musings

* And speaking of dragging plots, can we please get some forward momentum on the Maxie (Kirsten Storms)/Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) front? They literally spent an entire episode coming up with plots that wouldn’t work in regard to how to deal with baby Louise…how about coming up with something viable!

* Here’s hoping that the writing staff draws inspiration from modern, less stereotypical “women-behind-bars B pictures” when plotting Alexis’s (Nancy Lee Grahn) Pentonville arc. So far, we’re giving them a B for effort, but ole Hilda’s already wearing thin.

* Last week, we wondered whether Millow or Chillow was this soap’s endgame, and we’ve seemed to be given our answer…but it might not be the one you’re suspecting.

Sure, right now it seems that Michael (Chad Duell) and Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) are destined for a happy life together – heck, they’ve already got a ready-made family. But with Chase knock, knock, knocking of death’s door, might Willow reevaluate her already reevaluated feelings?
