On Tuesday, The Voice held its final night of Battle Rounds as Miley Cyrus, Blake Shelton, Jennifer Hudson, and Adam Levine trimmed their teams in hopes of charging ahead in the next phase: The Knockout Rounds.
At the beginning of the last night of the Battles, Team Blake’s Adam Cunningham took on Natalie Stovall by dueting on Big Little Town’s Boondocks. Guitar carrying Cunningham won this session, but just by a narrow margin.
Then, Eric Lyn beat down Ignatious Carmouche after the pair sang Unaware by Alan Stone for Team JHud. This was a tough decision on Hudson’s part, who asked if she could go home instead of one of them.
Although Eric won, both these singers were so soulful that they seemed like winners no matter what the outcome. In fact, the women in the crowd screamed throughout this performance.
What about Team Miley? The former Disney princess was nicely represented when Ashland Craft took on Megan Rose to belt Waylon Jennings’ Good Hearted Woman.
Levine called this cover of the country anthem “the best battle we’ve ever had [on The Voice].” Indeed, both are killer singers. As Cyrus mulled over her determination, Hudson told Ashland she had the standout voice while Shelton called Megan “the discovery.”
In a difficult and intense situation, Megan was ultimately overlooked as Cyrus picked Craft who she believes will be at the top of this competition as a country artist.
No worries, though. Megan Rose was boldly stolen by Blake, which ultimately wasn’t a big surprise. But yay!
The Voice airs on NBC on Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m., ET.
