Another Game of Thrones episode from Season 8 is in the books, so to speak, and what an incredible episode it was! From Bran joining the war council to Sam giving Sir Jorah Heartsbane, his family’s sword made of Valyrian steel, there was so much happening that stunned us! Here are our top 10 holy-cow moments!
10. Brianne Goes To Bat For Jaime
Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) was a sitting duck for his enemies, but Brienne (Gwendoline Christie) risked her good standing to come forward and vouch for him. Brienne’s word was good enough for Sansa while Dany, who thought Sansa agreed with her that Jaime should pay for his sins, backed down but felt let down by Sansa.
9. Sansa Confronts Dany About The North
It started off with Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) trying to make peace with her lover’s sister after the above incident, and while she scored a few points with Sansa (Sophie Turner), talk eventually turned to who would run the North. When Sansa said the North wouldn’t bow and Dany pulled her hand, which had been on Sansa’s, away…well, ouch!
8. Jorah Goes To Bat For Tyrion
With Cersei’s (Lena Headey) army not coming to help fight the White Walkers, it made Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) look bad, and Dany’s patience was wearing thin. Despite being incredibly jealous, Jorah (Iain Glen) knew at this point Dany needs Tyrion and he talked her down from splitting with her Hand of the Queen.
7. Everything About Tormund Giantsbane!
From the moment Tormund (Kristofer Hivju) body checked Jon (Kit Harington) into a hug at their reunion, to his story about how he got his last name (it involved killing a giant at age 10 and then being milked by his giant widow), Tormund was pure awesomeness.
6. Podrick Sings — And He’s Great!
When a song request was made, it was Pod (Daniel Portman) who answered the call, singing Jenny of Oldstones. Not only was his voice beautiful, but the haunting song about a Targaryen prince of old choosing between ruling the Seven Kingdoms and love seemed especially poignant at that moment.
5. Sansa Embraces Theon
Theon (Alfie Allen) returned to serve the Starks and it was pretty obvious that Sansa couldn’t be more happy about it — especially when she left Dany’s side to run into Theon’s arms. The two even hung out together in what could be their last moments on earth.
4. Lyanna and Jorah FINALLY Meet Up
Lyanna (Bella Ramsey) is such a badass but watching as she read Jorah the riot act about how she would fight and not hang with the little girls in the crypt was must-see TV. He told her she’s the future of their house — it couldn’t be in better hands.
3. Dany Learns Jon’s Parentage
For this to be only at number three lets you know how incredible this whole episode was. Jon thought he was destroying Dany because their love was now tainted but she had her eye squarely on the Iron Throne and now his claim to it is better than hers and she does not like that. Another ouch!
2. Brienne Gets Knighted
This was a many-seasons-in-the-making moment and the look of pure joy on Brienne’s face after Jaime, of all people, revealed a knight can make another knight — and then his doing just that for her — was one of those heartfelt moments that this show isn’t exactly known for but it was worth everything!
1. Arya Had Sex!
It was twisty for fans to see Maisie Williams do a love scene (with a bit of nakedness) after watching her on the show since she was 11-years-old, but it was a great move for Arya. It helped to humanize the killer she’s become and completely made sense. But still — it was shocking!
