Fans of The Twilight Zone have something to celebrate! The cult classic series, recently revived on CBS All Access, has been picked up for a second season. An all-star cast has been assembled to tell the latest Twilight Zone tales.
Actors partaking in the anthology series sophomore season include (in alphabetical order) Morena Baccarin (Deadpool), Colman Domingo (If Beale Street Could Talk), Ethan Embry (Grace and Frankie), Jenna Elfman (Dharma and Greg), Tavi Gevinson (Enough Said), Tony Hale (Veep), Abbie Hern, Gillian Jacobs (Invincible), Sophia Macy, Joel McHale (Community), Chris Meloni (Law & Order: SVU), Billy Porter (Pose), Jimmi Simpson (Date Night), and Daniel Sunjata (Rescue Me).
Each star will appear in one of the 10 upcoming episodes of The Twilight Zone, which will be available on CBS All Access later this year. The series executive producer and narrator, Jordan Peele (Get Out), has written an episode titled Downtime. Other episode titles include The Who of You, A Human Face, 8, Among The Untrodden, and Meet in the Middle.
The original The Twilight Zone series was created and hosted by Rod Serling. It premiered on October 2, 1959, on CBS. Serling won a Golden Globe in 1963 for Best Producer/Director.
In 1962, he was nominated for writing The Twilight Zone at the Primetime Emmys. The show takes viewers to another dimension “not only of sight and sounds but of mind.”
The series ran until 1964 and has been enjoyed by millions in syndication. CBS describes The Twilight Zone as “the godfather of sci-fi series” and was groundbreaking for exploring “humanity’s hopes, despairs, prides, and prejudices in metaphoric ways conventional dramas could not.”
The Twilight Zone is produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions and Simon Kinberg’s Genre Films. Peele and Kinberg serve as executive producers. Season One of The Twilight Zone, as well as episodes of the original run, can be seen on CBS All Access.
