The CW reboot of Dynasty went through some casting changes last year with the character of Alexis. After series regular Nicollette Sheridan (Desperate Housewives; Knots Landing) exited the role of Blake’s first wife, producers had regular cast member Elizabeth Gilles (Alexis’s daughter, Fallon) step in to play the role. Now, the part has been recast again with The Parent Trap’s Elaine Hendrix.
Elaine Hendrix Joins Dynasty
According to Gilles‘ twitter account, the show has cast Hendrix in the role of Alexis Carrington, Fallon’s unpredictable mother, which was made famous in the original 1980s version of the show by Joan Collins.
“Words can’t express how excited I am about our new Alexis!!” Gilles posted. “Beyond thrilled to be back on set with @elaine4animals. Can’t think of anyone better to fill this role. We’re getting the band back together, Elaine.”
Reunited and It Feels So Good
Gilles and Hendrix previously worked together on the short-lived FX series Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll. Hendrix responded to her TV daughter’s excited tweet with one of her own.
“Love you @LizGillies! So happy to be together again. This is gonna be goooood. #alexiscarrington #dynastys3.”
New Alexis
When Sheridan vacated the part of Alexis last season, the show wrote in that she needed plastic surgery after Alexis suffered severe burns to explain her new look. Producers didn’t have to look far to have an actress step in. Gilles played the part, but that casting was only temporary.
Hendrix has been busy since incurring the wrath of audiences in the much-beloved remake of The Parent Trap when she made poor little Lindsay Lohan’s life miserable. This year alone, she had a recurring role on the TV series Proven Innocent, appeared in the TV movie Dope State, and the films Low Low, Adopt a Highway, Burying Yasmeen, and Adventures of Dally & Spanky. Dynasty airs on The CW on Fridays at 9 p.m. ET.
