“He’s a very positive person, and I am too, and I know that he will do the best that he can to make this a positive experience,” Theresa continued. “And I have every faith that is going to work out that way, that it’s going to be the type of cancer that will not affect his life and that he’ll live to be a very healthy old age.”

Truth Behind the Split
Gerry and Theresa got married on national television on January 4, 2024. After three months of marriage, they announced their decision to divorce in a joint interview on Good Morning America. They claimed they couldn’t make their long-distance marriage work at the time.
In her interview with PEOPLE, Theresa insisted that Gerry wanted to make their marriage work despite his diagnosis. She didn’t feel it was a “factor” in ending their marriage. “Part of it was the distance, but that wasn’t the only part. That’s really all I will say,” she teased.
Theresa also suggested their relationship moved quickly. They had to get to know each other quickly. Gerry claimed he was “sick” of living at his lake house and needed a change, but they never made the move. Regardless, Theresa wishes Gerry the best with his cancer journey. She’s positive that “good things” will happen to him.
