Grant Ellis is the second Black male lead of The Bachelor. Matt James was the first in 2020. Ellis was determined to make himself stand out. He did just that when he caught Jenn Trann’s eye during her season of The Bachelorette. The former basketball player is currently navigating how to juggle multiple women at once.
Bringing His Flavor To The Show
In an interview with Parade Magazine, Ellis explained the vibe of his season. He’s satisfied that it shows his stories and the stories of the 25 women who are vying for his affection. Ellis’ goal for the show was to “be myself…going in there open and vulnerable.” He didn’t want to have “preconceived notions” about meeting a particular woman.
Ellis followed his heart and made the right choices, which wasn’t always easy. Someone was bound to get hurt. Meeting 25 women at once was overwhelming for the day trader, but he wouldn’t have it any other way. Ellis enjoyed getting to know that many women at once.
“The one thing I can appreciate is just getting to know each individual’s personality: Their story, where they come from, and try to figure out what fits you the best,” Ellis explained. He wanted to find someone who was willing to be herself. She had to be there for him, not for the cameras.
Fantasy Suite Dates
Ellis will have to tackle the fantasy suites. It’s an intimate time when he chooses his final women and gets to know them better. Anything can happen during this time. “I approached them very carefully. I think any time physical intimacy is involved, it can enhance feelings, so I really tried to wait because I didn’t want to make a decision off of that and be confused,” Ellis explained.
In the preview for the remainder of the season, it looks like Ellis has trouble choosing between two women at the end. However, he told Parade that he didn’t have any difficulty. What made it hard was “letting somebody down.” It’s especially hard when “their family gets involved, and their past gets involved, and you start to care for these ladies more and more.”
There were also questions about Ellis’ music career. He admits that he loves to get musical, but it’s not something that he’s taking seriously.
