Fans of The Bachelor can ring in the new year with their favorite romance reality series, which is set to premiere on Monday, January 1.
Arie Luyendyk Jr., the former race car driver and current real estate agent, takes center stage on the show’s 22nd season when he returns for a second shot at finding true love.
Back in 2012, Luyendyk was in love and a day away from proposing to the woman of his dreams on The Bachelorette. But then, Emily Maynard (now Emily Maynard Johnson) broke his heart, when she gave her final rose to Jef Holm and accepted his marriage proposal.
Luyendyk was forced to move on after a tearful goodbye to Maynard. He stepped away from the spotlight and put all his focus into a new career in real estate, which has brought him tremendous success.
Even though he has been gone from Bachelor Nation for nearly six years, America never forgot Luyendyk’s rugged good looks and charm. And, apparently, neither did the franchise’s producers, who invited him to give reality romance another chance as the star of the new upcoming season of The Bachelor.
So now, after mending his broken heart, the 36-year-old is ready to start another journey for love. Only on this journey he’ll be the one handing out roses to a group of women eager to become his bride.
Hosted by Chris Harrison, The Bachelor is produced by Next Entertainment in association with Warner Horizon Television. Mike Fleiss, Elan Gale, Bennett Graebner and Nicole Woods are the executive producers.
During its 21st season, The Bachelor ranked as the number one TV show on Monday night among Adults 18-34 and Women 18-34, beating out competition, including NBC’s The Apprentice and The Voice.
In fact, for the entire 2016-17 season, the veteran ABC unscripted show finished among TV’s top five broadcast series with adults 18-49 and was the top unscripted show.
Be sure to tune into The Bachelor’s premiere on Monday, January 1 at 8 pm on ABC.
