Former The Bachelor star Arie Luyendyk Jr. is sticking up for his wife, Lauren Luyendyk, after she decided to leave their newborn daughter, Alessi, at home on Wednesday.
The new mother shared a photo of herself on Instagram with her sister, Heather Burnham, and the caption, “First time out of the house without Alessi and I only cried one time. I’d say it’s a win.”
The trolls immediately came out and judged the former star of The Bachelor for leaving her daughter so quickly after giving birth.
However, her husband jumped into the comments section to defend the 27-year-old and revealed it was his idea for her to get out of the house.
“To all the negative comments regarding leaving her with grandma for a 45 min lunch, cut her some slack! It was my idea because she has been working so hard to keep up and quite frankly I commend her for 1,” Luyendyk wrote.
“Being an incredible mom and getting the breastfeeding down enough to make sure she had enough while she was at lunch. (Moms know that breastfeeding can be difficult) and 2. So much of being a good parent is making sure you take care of yourself.”
But he wasn’t done. The new dad continued his defense of his wife, clearly distressed that she’s having to deal with such vitriol when it was all his idea that she even go out and have fun with her sister.
“She wanted a healthy meal with her sister who is in town. I get so frustrated at the comments because she is such a kind soul and takes these comments to heart. Be kind people! … You’re doing great momma.”
