The giant oak tree from Shawshank Redemption was iconic — and served as a tourist attraction for many years. Now, it’s being made into something very special.
In fact, a very lucky fan is about to get the gift of a lifetime, thanks to Brian McNeal, who is the owner of Natural Wood Mirrors. He’s creating a table made from a piece of the beloved movie.
According to TMZ, McNeal has been working with the owners of the famous tree from the movie to craft a special table for a fan from Toronto.
This fan already has two tables made from the same tree, which cost him over $24,000! But, for this third table, he is paying around $65,000.
The center part of the table will include stills from the film, including a shot of Andy (Tim Robbins) and Red (Morgan Freeman).
Fans of the movie will know how big of a deal this tree is in the film, as it was used as a landmark to guide Red, who was finally released from prison, to a map and some money that would help him make his way to Andy.
But don’t worry — this tree was not cut down just to create a table. The tree was actually cut down back in 2016 after a severe storm damaged it.
The movie will also be celebrating its 25th anniversary and the prison where it was filmed, Ohio State Reformatory, will hold a festival to celebrate.
