One of the greatest cinematic movie kisses was honored last night on the MTV Movie & TV Awards: Greatest of All Time special, as the sultry lip-lock between Cruel Intentions’ Kathryn and Cecile, played by actresses Selma Blair and Sarah Michelle Gellar, took home the coveted trophy.

On her Instagram account, Blair posted a photo of her and Geller together, with the actress bending down to kiss the popcorn trophy, as well as some other fun shots of the two old friends together during the day.
“Looking back 20 years ago… A kiss. Between two young actresses. On-screen. In a mainstream teen movie. In 2000,” she wrote. “It was a sweet and delicious kiss for my character, Cecile. And she wanted more. And I must say it was a really good kiss.” Blair was happy to add that something like that isn’t shocking in 2020.
“It stands for a shift in thinking,” she said. “I am honored to be the GOAT kiss with my dear friend [Gellar] who has been by my side through the excitement, the slow times, the changes, the kids, in sickness and in health. Thank you @rogerkumble for giving me this…my first big movie. And for giving me this space to say I have always been honored to be an actress. To be allowed. To say thank you. It has been a dream come true. May we all kiss one day again soon. This one will always be a point of pride.”
Geller posted her own photo of the two of them together last night, and noted, “With my Emmy, I am now an E-GOAT.”
During the ceremony, a video played of the two actresses seated together at a table, with slow, sensual music playing as they leaned in to recreate the kiss. But a Plexiglas divider took some of the sexiness out of the kiss.
“Stay safe MTV,” Geller said. “And 2020, end soon,” with Blair adding a “please.”
