Social-distancing prevents pals like Sarah Michelle Gellar and Shannen Doherty from getting together in person to celebrate their respective birthdays, which are only days apart. But thanks to social media, the two can celebrate online and share their well-wishes for one another with their fans.

Cause it’s your birthday @sarahmgellar and although I celebrate my friendship with you everyday, on this day I want it to be shouted from the rooftops!! Can’t wait to celebrate together and just be able to sit chatting about the many topics we seem to cover. Love you S. Happy birthday.”

“Happy birthday friend,” Gellar posted on her Instagram. “I’m ready for the day we can do all the things together in this picture, be at a party, stand near total strangers, and most importantly- hold your hand. Till that day, I want you to know even in this virtual world, I am always standing beside you and holding your hand. #happybirthday.”

Born Near Each Other

Gellar, born on April 14, and Doherty, born April 12, share more than the same astrological sign. The two began their careers as child actresses. As a youngster, Doherty appeared on such shows as Little House on the Prairie, Highway to Heaven, and Voyagers! Gellar started doing commercials for Burger King and had an acting role on Spenser: For Hire.

In the 1990s, Doherty become one of TV’s most popular stars as Brenda on Beverly Hills 90210. Gellar set the soap world on fire with her fiery portrayal of Kendall on All My Children. Gellar gained a whole new fanbase when she landed the lead role in The WB series Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
