Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick are two iconic ‘80s and ‘90s actors who have managed to make their marriage work after 22 years. Though they’ve been through ups and downs, they’ve always managed to support one another.
Add to that, the couple is about to mix their business and personal life with an upcoming project. From how they first met to the family they’ve built, learn a bit more about this adorable celebrity couple.
The two already-famous actors met back in November 1991 when he was directing a play for the Naked Angels Theater Company, which was actually founded by two of Parker’s brothers. However, it took Broderick a few months to work up the courage to ask her out on a date. He finally called her on February 1, 1992.
Sarah Jessica Parker’s Non-Traditional Wedding Dress
Broderick and Parker were married on May 19, 1997, at Angel Orensanz Synagogue in New York City. Though they invited 100 guests, no one actually knew they were coming to their wedding! In fact, Parker decided to wear a black dress instead of a traditional white one. She has since revealed she wished she had worn white.
A Gentle Push
After years of appearing in movies, such as Hocus Pocus and First Wives Club, it took Parker a bit of convincing to take her iconic role as Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City. She wasn’t sure she wanted to step into the world of TV, but Broderick encouraged her to take the part.
The couple has three children together and their first child, son James, was born on October 28, 2002. They then welcomed twin daughters, Marion and Tabitha, on June 22, 2009 via surrogacy. Parker turned to surrogacy because she was having a difficult time getting pregnant.
Headed To Broadway
Broderick and Parker will be starring in the revival of Neil Simon’s Plaza Suite on Broadway early next year! The show is about three couples (who will be played by the two actors) living in a suite in a Manhattan hotel. This is the third time the couple will be acting in a play together.
