A new show has been greenlit. This limited series will bring some cozy murder mystery vibes. When Calls the Heart creator Robin Bernheim is teaming up with former co-star Brooke Shields.
WCTH Reunion
This is the reunion that Hearties didn’t see coming. They will have to look forward to another new show. On Monday, April 7, Acorn TV broke the news about the new series Allie & Andi. Shields is reuniting with Bernheim for this new crime series. The two previously worked together on WCTH and Netflix’s Mother of the Bride in 2024.
Acorn TV shared a press release about this new drama. This six-episode series will star Shields playing a successful author who lives in a “quaint New England colonial town.” Her unnamed character will form “an unlikely alliance with an aspiring writer and influencer to find the killer of a close friend.” Shields immediately jumped onto this project.
She didn’t have any doubts about working with Bernheim again. She praised the WCTH creator for writing about “two strong, smart women you want to root for.” Unfortunately, this new series will not premiere until 2026. It’ll stream during the fall, so you can get the cozy vibes.
Why Shields Left Hallmark
Hearties remember when Shields played Charlotte Thornton, the late mother of Jack (Daniel Lissing), in Season 3. She was signed to a recurring role at the time. Shields also starred in other movies for the Hallmark Channel. In her new book, Brooke Shields Is Not Allowed to Get Old: Thoughts On Aging as a Woman, she shared why she left the network. The former child star signed on for a 16-film deal. But she found the work schedule to be grueling. Shields realized that she could “make a living with other opportunities.” It was a difficult decision that she wouldn’t have made if she was a younger actress. “I simply could not do ten more films that were not what I was promised and felt completely wrong for me,” Shields wrote. “So I quit. I definitely surprised some people, and in plenty of ways, I surprised myself. I certainly would never have done that in my 20s.”
