Loughlin’s New Gig
To pop culture fans and ’90s lovers, Loughlin is best known as Aunt Becky on ABC’s Full House and the Netflix reboot Fuller House. To Hearties, she’s known for her role as Abigail Stanton on WCTH. She left the Hallmark Channel series after she was involved in the college admissions scandal. Loughlin left the wholesome show for something different.
She’s showing a whole new side to herself in the new Prime Video series, On Call, which also stars Pretty Little Liars‘ Troian Bellisario and 13 Reasons Why‘s Brandon Larracuente. Loughlin isn’t her usual wholesome self. In fact, she wears no makeup. She also curses, which is a departure from her previous roles. PEOPLE unveiled a preview and the details of her new role. The actress plays a law enforcement officer who doesn’t mess around.
On Call is about a veteran officer who works with a rookie. The duo takes on calls in the Long Beach, California, area. This series is different from other cop comedies. According to PEOPLE’s report, it’s a spoof of the Cops-style docuseries. It includes a combination of “bodycam, dash-camera, and cellphone footage to create a cinema verité effect.” Loughlin plays a cop who drops an F-bomb.
WCTH Tackles New Role
Loughlin teased the details of her new role in December. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, she revealed why she wanted to tackle a different project. Not having to get all dolled up was a good enough reason for her. “No makeup, dark hair pulled back, uniform, and just [a] a very raw [look], and I jumped at the chance,” Loughlin exclaimed.
She was “excited” to take on a different role. However, she had reservations at first. “I didn’t know I had it in me — to be that badass,” Loughlin mused. What are your thoughts on Loughlin’s no-nonsense, new role? Let us know in the comment section.
