The View is currently on a summer hiatus. However, viewers aren’t sure if it will return again. CBS’s abrupt cancellation of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert has talk shows on edge.
Did ABC Cancel The View?
Viewers were looking forward to catching up with the news on The View while they were on summer vacation. But the daytime talk show is on a break. As of Monday, July 28, the show started airing previously aired episodes and will continue to do so for the next few weeks.
The ladies concluded Season 28 on Thursday, July 24, with a special message to viewers. Co-host Joy Behar started things off by saying, “Before we go on hiatus, we only have one more show after this, I’m allowed to say that, right?” She wasn’t sure what to say, as networks are being carefully watched during this time.

Fellow panelist Whoopi Goldberg explained, “Okay, so here’s what’s going on. We will see you all tomorrow for another new show, and we’ll be back for our new season in September. But of course, you can watch us the rest of the summer with our encore episodes, the best of the season.”
President Donald Trump has called for the hit daytime talk show to be cancelled. However, the ladies are right. According to TV Insider, The View Season 29 will return with new episodes in September. ABC hasn’t made any changes to its daytime lineup.

Changes To The Talk Show
The panel lineup could change. Currently, The View includes Whoopi Goldberg as moderator and fellow panelists Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, Alyssa Farah Griffin, and Ana Navarro. Multiple sources associated with the show reportedly teased that Hostin could take Goldberg’s place as moderator, but that rumor hasn’t been confirmed.
There is also no word on whether the show will stop discussing politics and current events. It’s possible that the ladies will focus only on hot topics. The talk show broke ground when it was the first to feature an all-female panel debating politics, which was unheard of at its time in August 1997. The View will air in its usual 11 a.m. ET timeslot when it returns in the fall.
