The Wednesday, October 9 episode of The Golden Bachelorette took fans on an emotional rollercoaster ride. Chock Chapple hinted to the producers that something was wrong with his mother and that he might have to go home despite his strong connection with Joan Vassos.
Chock mourned the loss of his mother. During Wednesday night’s episode of the ABC dating competition, Chock revealed that his mother was sick. Following the group date, he learned that she passed away.
His mother, Jill, had stage 4 cancer. Sadly, she passed away the following morning. Chock was just on a high from the date he had with Joan. He caught her eye during the Chippendales group date. He even got the first rose. Joan felt that she had the deepest connection with Chock out of the entire group date.
Chock knew it was going to happen, but that didn’t eliminate the grief and guilt he was feeling. Chock had to leave the mansion to be there for his family. This reminded viewers of Joan’s departure from The Golden Bachelor after she had made a connection with Gerry Turner during their one-on-one date. Joan left and never came back.
Chock shares the news with Joan on the same bench where she broke the news to Gerry. Joan had to move forward on her dates with Jordan and Gary despite wondering where her connection with Chock left her.
Joan had solo conversations with the other guys during the cocktail party before the rose ceremony. Keith got tongue-tied during their time together. Soon thereafter, Chock returned to the mansion. This is the twist that no one saw coming.
Chock told Joan that he’s always kept his feelings to himself. He needs to open up more, and he’ll need help with it. This changed the direction of the show. This could make Chock a frontrunner and possible contender. Fans have a feeling that he will make it to the finale.
Chock and Joan shared a strong connection since their Disneyland date. He could be the one for her. What’s also surprising is that Keith still ended up with a rose despite their dry conversation. He still has a hold on her heart no matter what he says or fails to say.
What are your thoughts on Chock’s return? Are you rooting for him? Let us know in the comment section.
