Dorit Kemsley shared more details about her separation from Paul “P.K.” Kemsley. Their divorce is currently playing out on Season 14 of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. In a new interview, Dorit revealed that she wasn’t involved in this decision.

Dorit spoke out about their separation on the RHOBH: After Show. She got candid about her feelings on the matter, admitting that it “would have been nice to be included in the decision.” Dorit recalled the moment that it happened. Dorit and P.K. spoke with his sponsor in the backyard. His sponsor suggested the idea that they should separate.
Dorit’s co-star and friend, Bozoma Saint John, was shocked by this revelation. “I’m sorry. Why did his sponsor need to say it?” she asked. Dorit explained that his sponsor suggested they should take time apart. Bozoma argued that the sponsor’s role is to only focus on the person’s sobriety. Even the producer wanted to know why the sponsor was involved in their separation.
“It was the new stages of his sobriety, so he was working with his sponsor every day,” Dorit explained. “And I was really grateful because he helped P.K.” Bozoma still had an issue with how he handled it. “That is problematic,” she noted. Dorit was asked whether this was the first time the word “separate” had come up.
Dorit claimed it was the “seven hundredth time.” But they mentioned it so much that the word lost all meaning. Dorit wanted to be “included in the decision” when it did happen. Interestingly, the sponsor is no longer involved with P.K.’s sobriety. He felt that his sponsor “overstepped” their boundaries. The sponsor took it too far by telling Dorit how to raise her children.

Think About The Children
Speaking of which, how are the children doing? In a separate segment, Dorit revealed how they’re navigating the separation. The producer asked Dorit if she had a conversation with Jagger. There was a time when he asked if they split apart. Dorit decided to be honest with her son before a classmate brought it up at school.
“I said, ‘Ya know, Jagger, sometimes two people need some time apart even though they love each other very much, and most importantly, you know, Daddy and I love you and your sister more than anything in this world, and nothing will change,'” Dorit explained.
She wanted to see how her son would react. Jagger wanted to know if she would tell him if they were divorced. She assured him that she would let him know what was going on. The producer wanted to know if she’d had any more conversations with Jagger, 10, and Phoenix, 8, since the news came out about their separation.
Dorit revealed that this isn’t a strange situation for them. P.K. spent most of his time traveling when they married. She feels her kids will ask more questions when they’re ready, but she also thinks they don’t want to know more about the separation. Her goal is to keep her kids safe during this difficult time.
