The Price Is Right looked slightly different on the Wednesday, February 26 episode. That’s because the game show celebrated its 10,000th episode. Host Drew Carey was all decked out in a gold blazer. All of the show’s models were in attendance for the big event.

Big Celebration

The show celebrated this milestone with once-in-a-lifetime moments. Contestants had the opportunity to win big cash and prizes. The episode kicked off with announcer George Gray welcoming viewers to the show. He came out with a 10-layer cake that featured the show’s most popular games, including the 10K topper. The bottom of the cake featured the iconic wheel, reports PEOPLE

The show shared a teaser of the episode on Instagram. The first photo featured Carey standing beside the tall cake in his glitzy suit. Another shot included all the models. “What better way to celebrate 10,000 episodes of #ThePriceisRight than a giant cake? We’re cutting into this confection and marking our 10,000th Wednesday on @cbstv, so don’t miss it!” the post reads.

Carey planned to give out plenty of money. Contestants could win between $90,000 and $100,000. The Price Is Right aired at 11 a.m. ET on Wednesday. New episodes are available to stream the following day on Paramount+. Unfortunately, there isn’t a nighttime version of the 10,000th episode.

Honoring Bob Barker’s Legacy

In an interview with Variety, Carey admitted he still felt like the “new guy” despite hosting 3,317 episodes. His mission is to honor Barker’s legacy during every episode. Barker hosted the game show from its 1972 premiere until his retirement in 2007. Carey joked that he “brought my own shoes.” He didn’t need to fill Barker’s shoes.

“I want to honor the show — certainly — and not forget about the importance of him and the path that he blazed,” Carey says. “It’s very important to keep the memory of Bob alive. I’m not replacing anybody. I’m just doing a show that he used to do.” Barker was “the star of the show.” Every contestant wanted to meet him. That wasn’t the case for Carey. He just wanted to be the host and let the show shine on its own. “I am not the star of the show; the contestants are the star,” Carey said.
