Pascal Ibgui shocked fans when he exited The Golden Bachelorette on the Wednesday, October 30th episode. Ahead of his overnight date with Joan Vassos, he told her that he only saw her as a friend. He left Joan jilted and unloved. Pascal was disappointed that he hurt her. Now, he’s speaking out about why he left the show.
During Wednesday’s episode of the ABC dating series, Joan went on her overnight dates with her three remaining suitors. She was excited for her date with Pascal. He admitted to host Jessi Palmer that he was feeling “guarded.”
Their date included a spiritual ceremony that kind of scared him off. Later that night, Pascal decided to end things with Joan. He told her that he didn’t feel sparks between them and didn’t want to be a replacement for her late husband.
In his interview with TheWrap, Pascal explained his sudden departure. He felt good about their connection during their homedown date. But then he was missing his ex-fiance shortly thereafter. Pascal wasn’t ready to let his walls down with Joan.
He felt he “didn’t spend enough time with her to really get to know her.” Pascal would’ve felt more “comfortable” about their relationship had they done something thrilling such as “scuba diving or skydiving.”
“I freaked out — I just felt like I wasn’t ready,” Pascal admitted.

The famed hairstylist has been busy explaining himself to the media. In another interview with Glamour Magazine, he shared his regret about leaving the show. Pascal shooed the cameras away after he shared the shocking news with Joan. Then he hugged her as she cried on his shoulder.
The Parisian explained that he wasn’t ready to be vulnerable. He “needed more time” to bring his walls down. Pascal said he “felt trapped” and “got scared” about their relationship. It also wasn’t his intention to make Joan feel unlovable.
“My intention was there to tell her that I’m not where she needed me to be, and I don’t think I could get there,” Pascal explained. “I’m sorry if I misled her or misinterpreted myself, but I told her from the beginning that I was guarded and it was going to take me time to bring down my wall.”
Joan’s two remaining suitors are Chock Chapple and Guy Ganser. The final rose will take place in two weeks. A week from now, the “Men Tell All” will be where they share their experiences on the show. Pascal will be there to share his side of the story.
The Golden Bachelorette airs on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET and streams the following day on Hulu.
