Ryan Seacrest is gearing up for the 50th anniversary of Wheel of Fortune. He took over Pat Sajak’s position in September. The busiest man in showbiz added another gig to his resume. Seacrest will also host the 2024 iHeartRadio Jingle Ball this month. In just a few months, he’ll return to the American Idol stage. But right now, he’s focused on America’s Game Show.

In a new interview with Good Morning America, Seacrest shared his thoughts on WoF’s anniversary. He revealed how he’s prepared for it. Seacrest would love to give away a million dollars.
“I plan to walk out and give away a lot of money to celebrate the 50 years,” Seacrest explained to GMA. “Hopefully, we give away a million dollars. I want that million-dollar wedge to make it to the end, so somebody gets to win that.”
He also revealed the most surprising part of his job. The radio personality revealed that he didn’t expect to feel “genuinely excited” when the contestants win. This is an aspect of the show that doesn’t get old for him.
“I knew I’d be excited, but I love it when someone wins a big amount of money or a car, and it’s just a life-changing half hour for people,” Seacrest explained.
This comes amid the criticism with his hosting abilities. Some fans on Reddit called out the game show’s new look. (Here’s how viewers really feel about WoF’s new set.) They also claim the game show isn’t as authentic anymore. The overall complaint is that it’s more “over-the-top” than ever.
However, Seacrest is nothing but enthusiastic. He also wants to bring that element of nostalgia back to the program. Seacrest finds it “special” to be part of the show’s 50th anniversary. His plans are to “create more memories as it goes forward.”
Seacrest is doing something right. Wheel of Fortune has racked up close to 8 million viewers during his first month as host. What do you think of the show now? Let us know in the comment section.
