After spending one season on The Talk as a host, Marie Osmond is exiting the CBS talk show. She’s going to stay busy with a variety of projects including developing a new show with ViacomCBS.
“Marie is a consummate professional, and we thank her for sharing her personal experiences, insight, as well as incredible talents, with our audience,” CBS shared with Deadline, who broke the news. “We will miss her humor, kindness and good nature, and wish her much success in her future endeavors.”
The Talk is currently on hiatus and has been airing reruns. The talk show, which replaced As the World Turns on the CBS Daytime lineup in 2010, is set to return for Season 11 later this month. Recently, veteran executive producer/showrunner John Redmann exited The Talk.
Osmond’s exit from The Talk isn’t the only ending (or new beginning, depending on how you view such things), as she shared to her personal Instagram page. She and her husband recently dropped off their last two children at college. This is the first time they’ve been alone together since 1982. “So, at this stage of my life,” Osmond says, “I”m looking forward to spending more time with him and visiting all the kids/grandkids.”
Osmond joined the show last year, taking the place of Sara Gilbert (The Conners), who created The Talk. Previously, Osmond had guest-hosted the show more than 40 times since its inception.
No word yet on when a new panelist will be announced. The Talk’s hosts are Sharon Osbourne, Sheryl Underwood, Eve, and Carrie Ann Inaba, who is expected to continue on as a judge on Dancing With the Stars when it returns on Monday, September 14 at 8 p.m. on ABC.
The Talk has won 14 Daytime Emmy Awards and been nominated 43 times in its 10-year history. The Talk airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
