The Kelly Clarkson Show is planning a big comeback with some changes. The Emmy-award-winning show is approaching its seventh season. There will be new segments, “Kellyoke” song covers, and more.
Kelly Clarkson Is Listening To A Lot of Maren Morris
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the talk show’s music director, Jason Halbert, teased what fans could expect this season. The ever-popular “Kellyoke” segment will feature a mix of new and classic songs.
Clarkson will cover songs by Whitney Houston, Queen, and Sam Fischer. She’s also been listening to Maren Morris’s new album, Dreamsicle, a lot lately, Halbert says. Clarkson will likely cover “two or three Maren Morris songs” this season.
However, it has become increasingly difficult to find new songs to cover due to the prevalence of social media. It’s likely that someone else has covered that song. Yet, Clarkson fans wouldn’t mind hearing her sing the phone book if they could.
“It’s been hard to find [songs] that haven’t been covered by so many other artists,” Halbert explained. “We either spotlight a new artist, or, if we’re gonna do a huge hit, we try to make sure that we’re adding something to it.”
New Segments Coming To Season 7
According to TV Insider, executive producer Alex Duda revealed that Season 7 will feature new segments, including “Life Well Lit,” which debuted on Tuesday, September 30. “It’s about spreading joy,” Duda simply stated.
“Celeb With Skills” is another segment that plans to feature stars with secret talents. During the first segment, actor and comedian Nick Offerman taught Clarkson and a group of kids about woodworking.
Monday, September 29, marked the premiere of Season 7 of The Kelly Clarkson Show. It was also the singer’s return to the daytime talk show following the death of her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock. Blackstock died in August from skin cancer at the age of 48.
Clarkson had to pull back from her talk show and Las Vegas residency to focus on her family. (Find out the Season 7 premiere guests for The Kelly Clarkson Show.)
