Kayla Wallace talked about a possible return to When Calls the Heart. She also compared the Hallmark series to the new Paramount Plus show, Landman.
Returning to WCTH
In a new interview with Soaps She Knows, Wallace teased her return to Season 12 of WCTH. She first appeared on the drama in Season 6 as Fiona. From there, she had a recurring role until Season 10. Wallace returned briefly in Season 11, and could come back again. (Will she meet her cousin in Hope Valley?)
“I’ve never closed that door. It’s such a big part of my life. My husband is still very much on that show,” Wallace explained. “It’s funny, I’m around the cast a lot, so it never felt like a goodbye, and I hope it’s never a goodbye.”
Now, she’s taking on a new role. Wallace is on Taylor Sheridan’s new Western drama, Landman. She plays a lawyer named Rebecca Falcone. Wallace’s departure from Season 10 of WCTH happened when she was waiting for filming for Landman to resume. Filming was halted due to the Writer’s Guild of America and the 2024 SAG-AFTRA strikes.
Unexpected Comparison
Landman and WCTH can’t be anymore different from the other. Wallace immediately felt at home on set of the Yellowstone-esque drama. She explained how both have a “familiy vibe.” That’s when Wallace compared leading lady Erin Krakow to Billy Bob Thornton. Both actors are welcoming. They’re considered the leaders of their respective pacts.
“She’s such a kind, wonderful person, and it sets the tone for everybody on set,” Wallace explained. “Same with Billy. Both having that person who’s leading your cast can be such a kind, down-to-earth person, it really helps to make a positive energy on set.”
Of course, there’s a huge difference between the productions. Wallace joked that she never “stepped on a private jet as Fiona.” But she doesn’t see much difference between Rebecca and Fiona. She called them “strong women” who “both need to have the abiltiy to own a room.”
