When Hope Calls is moving to Great American Family. Season 2 of the series could premiere as soon as this month. In the meantime, you can catch up on the first season of the When Calls the Heart spinoff.
How to Watch Season 1
The series premiered on Hallmark Movies Now. Although it became an immediate hit with a new fanbase called Hopefuls, its future was unclear at the time. Hallmark Media placed most of its focus on the hit series WCTH.
Great American Family picked up the show for a second season. That season actually started in 2021 with a Christmas special titled When Hope Calls: A Country Christmas. Since then, Hopefuls have been waiting for the remainder of Season 2. The network is holding out hope for a January 2025 premiere, reports Parade Magazine. New details should come out soon.
In the meantime, you can watch all 10 episodes of Season 1 on Amazon Prime Video, Hallmark Movies Now Amazon Channel, or Hallmark Movies Now Apple TV Channel. You can also watch it on Frndly V, Sling TV, or Hallmark’s new streaming service, Hallmark+. The DVD set is also available to purchase on Amazon and select retailers.
About the Janette Oke Book Series
Like WCTH, the drama is also based on a book series. Janette Oke is the author behind both books. She wrote When Hope Calls alongside her daughter, Laurel Oke Logan. These books explore the relationship between Lillian (Morgan Kohan) and Grace (Jocelyn Hudson).
Lillian was adopted as a child and separated from her sister. Season 2 will have six episodes. The cast filmed all of the episodes at the end of September 2024, including two new Christmas episodes. It’s unclear when Great American Family will air the Christmas specials, but it’s likely they will be part of the “2025 Great American Christmas” lineup.
