ABC has pulled the plug on The Bachelorette for now. The show is currently on pause after Jenn Tran’s controversial season.
Not Cancelled
Over the weekend, reports claimed that ABC canceled the spinoff of The Bachelor. The network is only making changes to its franchise but won’t share any more details. Deadline was the first report that the network is “pausing” the dating series. Typically, production would start in the next few months, in time for a summer premiere.
This doesn’t mean that ABC is canceling The Bachelorette. Deadline noted that it “will likely come back to the Disney-owned network in the future.” The series hasn’t been “completely ruled out” for next year’s schedule. That same report also mentioned that The Bachelorette has been on the air since 2003 but didn’t have a season in 2006 or 2007.
Shakeup To Bachelor Nation
Bachelor In Paradise was previously the subject of cancellation rumors. However, the show will return after its hiatus. Grant Ellis’ season of The Bachelor is currently airing. It hasn’t come without its share of controversy. Fans accused the day trader of being there for the wrong reasons.
Ellis dropped a new song during the season premiere. Fans also called him out for his questionable choices. But that’s not the only season that’s been rife with controversy. Tran’s season had questionable contenders. Bachelor Nation fans called out casting for not vetting some of its men. She chose Devin Strader, who was convicted of burglarizing the ex-girlfriend’s home and trespassing. Tran noticed that he was distant after the final rose ceremony.
She revealed that he dumped her via phone call. Viewers have been calling for the show to improve its vetting process. What are your thoughts on ABC pausing The Bachelorette? Does this surprise you? Let us know in the comment section.
