On Friday, May 2, Washington and Omar Sy appeared on The View. The two were there to promote their new movie, Shadow Force. However, host Ana Navarro wanted Washington to spill the details on the Desperate Housewives reboot called Wisteria Lane.
“It is rumored that you are working on a remake of Desperate Housewives,” Navarro said. Sy reacted with a gleeful noise. As usual, all of us wanted to know more. That’s when Washington confirmed that the project was in the works.

“It’s inspired [by Desperate Housewives]. I can’t say too much— it’s very newly announced, it’s in development. … The idea is that it’s new times, there’s new challenges, it’s like, what happens on that cul-de-sac now? And so it’s exciting,” Washington teased.
Navarro wanted to know more about the cast. Would the original ladies return? The original cast included Eva Longoria, Terri Hatcher, Nicollette Sheridan, Felicity Huffman, and Marcia Cross. “New women? Old women?” Navarro pressed.
Washington refused to share any more details. Instead, she encouraged fans to follow her production company, Simpson Street, on Instagram. From there, fans will get more details about the reboot. Deadline also confirmed that Simpson Street and 20th Television were working on Wisteria Lane with Disney’s Onyx Collective.
From Fantasy To Reality
Marc Cherry created Desperate Housewives in 2004. The show ran on ABC for eight seasons and was so successful that it made a lasting impact on fans and the entertainment industry. The series inspired reality shows like Bravo’s ever-popular Real Housewives franchise.
The Real Housewives of Orange County was the first show that kicked things off. (Did Tamra Judge quit RHOC?) What are your thoughts on this reboot? Let us know in the comments section.
