Theresa Nist is sharing more details about her divorce from Gerry Turner. She also reflected on the moment they met on The Golden Bachelor. Nist admitted that she got swept up in the moment of the show.
Quickie Marriage
Turner and Nist got engaged and married on the dating show. Then, they announced they were getting divorced three months later. Nist reflected on their public relationship and told Us Weekly that feelings were heightened on the show. Producers pull out all the stops to make it a romantic experience. This can force feelings between couples.
Still, Nist added that the series was an “incredible” experience. “We were caught up in such excitement at that time. And then when it all ended, it was like, ‘OK, I’m back to my regular life, and what is life?’ I just had to step back and just reexamine who I was. It’s been a lot of introspection,” she shared.
The Golden Bachelor was an immediate hit. Fans loved watching 73-year-old Turner give out roses to his pick of ladies. Nist ended up winning over his heart. He popped the question during the November 2023 finale. The couple wed in a live ceremony in January 2024.

No Regrets
Despite getting swept up, Nist maintained that she has no regrets. The daytrader went along with the flow of the show. “But it’s not that they were saying to us, ‘OK, we’re offering you this wedding and you can do it six months, a year, two years, whenever you want to.’ It was now or never. The decision had to be made quickly,” she explained.
However, Nist would’ve changed one thing. She admitted they “should have waited” a little longer to get married. Nist seemingly suggested the producers gave them a “deadline” for getting married. She also fought back at the claims that it was all for the show. Nist argued that her feelings were authentic. Even her kids could see that she was happy.
“They were so excited, so supportive, and we all believed it was going to work. We wouldn’t have done it [otherwise]. I was in love. I really believed this was forever and for the rest of my life. We all thought that,” Nist added.
