Below Deck Season 12 started off strong. The premiere involved high-maintenance charter guests and an unruly crew that were already butting heads. Captain Kerry Titheradge has a lot of work on his hands. He recently teased that a fan-favorite is making a comeback.
Fan-Favorite Returns
Captain Kerry attended the Below Deck premiere party in New York City. There, he spoke with PEOPLE about Season 12, which premiered on Monday. He returned as captain, along with Chief Stew Fraser Olender and deckhand Kyle Stillie. Another cast member will return later this season.
“We have Fraser and Kyle, and somebody else later on,” Kerry teased. He was asked to share more details or to drop a hint about this person. Kerry couldn’t share any more details, but noted that this person was a returning alum. “I don’t want to give much away. I was very happy to see this other person coming.”

This person helps shape the charter season, which started out on a chaotic note. Kerry revealed that he had invited back some of the crew members from Season 11, but they rejected his invitation. “I really enjoyed a number of crew from the previous season, and I would like more to come back. But it just didn’t work out for us,” he said.
It’s Not This Below Deck Alum
There’s one alum who won’t be working with Kerry, and that’s Kate Chastain. During his appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Kerry was asked about which Bravolebrity was rude to him. Fellow guest and Below Deck Med alum, Hannah Ferrier, brought up the time when Kate ignored him at BravoCon.
“I don’t think she likes me,” Kerry shyly said. “She said hello to my girlfriend and everyone at the table, but not me.” He said that it hurt his feelings “a lot,” adding, “I am a very sensitive person. Under all this, I am a very sensitive guy.”
UsWeekly reported that Kate apologized to Kerry on Instagram, writing, “Omg I’m so sorry @capt_kerry ! There was a lot going on 💗.” Kate was a former Chief Stew. This season is focused on Fraser’s work ethic. Kerry and Fraser’s bond deepens in Season 12. “He’s learned to center himself. I’ve taught him some breathing techniques to center himself before he makes a big decision. So this season we’re going to see a much more leveled and measured chief stew,” Kerry told PEOPLE.
