NCIS: NOLA Ups Scott Bakula’s Wife, Chelsea Field, To Series Regular

The NCIS: New Orleans cast is expanding by one, thanks to actress Chelsea Field’s graduation from recurring guest to series regular.

According to Deadline, Field, who has made sporadic appearances on NCIS: NOLA for the past four seasons, will be elevated to a starring position just in time for the hit CBS procedural’s upcoming seventh cycle.

Field has played Rita Devereaux, the New Orleans District Attorney and a Reserve Commander in the U.S Navy’s Judge Advocate General Corp., since the second half of the series third season.

She has spent the majority of her tenure working opposite Scott Bakula’s surly Dwayne Pride (an NCIS Supervisory Special Agent) whom Rita has been romantically linked to since her first episode.

And the couple’s obvious, smoldering chemistry is no doubt thanks to the fact that Field and Bakula have actually been married to one another since 2009! The lovebirds first met back in 1993 on the set of the mystery thriller A Passion to Kill. Bakula played a psychiatrist who involved himself with a friend’s ultra alluring wife (Field) whom he later concludes is the fiend responsible for a spat of homicides.

By 1995, Bakula and Field were a bonafide pair, and they soon welcomed their firstborn son Wil. Four years later, they added a second son, Owen, to their brood.

On working with his wife, Bakula has said, “I love [it]. She makes me a better actor because she works more intensely and more deeply than I tend to… it’s pretty fantastic.”

In addition to her role on NCIS: NOLA, Field is probably best known for playing Teel in the 1987 science fiction fantasy film Masters of the Universe. She has also appeared in episodes of Cold Case, Memphis Beat, Secrets and Lies, the mothership of her current show, NCIS.

NCIS: NOLA is tentatively scheduled to return to CBS’s Sunday Night lineup in November 2020. Check your local listings for airtimes.
