Idris Elba is the latest celebrity to test for the Coronavirus. The actor has revealed whether or not he’s feeling any symptoms.
Idris Elba Reveals Test Results
The actor announced the news on his Twitter account. “This morning I tested positive for Covid 19,” Elba tweeted. “I feel ok, I have no symptoms so far but have been isolated since I found out about my possible exposure to the virus. Stay home people and be pragmatic. I will keep you updated on how I’m doing 👊🏾👊🏾 No panic.”
Celebrity pals and followers have tweeted out words of support to the actor. “Take care of yourself, bruh,” posted Sterling K. Brown (Randall, This Is Us). “Thanks for sharing. ✊🏿🕉.”
“Love to you XX,” posted Barbara Crampton (The Young and the Restless, You’re Next, and Body Double).
Born in London, Elba shorted his birth name (Idrissa to Idris) when he first got active in acting. Before becoming a working actor, he worked in nightclubs as a DJ known as “Big Driis.” The actor’s early credits include roles on The Wire, The Office, CSI: Miami, and The Big C.
More often, he can be seen on the big screen now. His upcoming projects include roles in The Harder They Fall, Three Thousand Years of Longing, Concrete Cowboys, and The Suicide Squad.
He starred in Idris Elba: No Limits from 2015-17, a series in which he took on speed challenges with different vehicles including a Ford Fiesta R1 rally car, a Bentley Continental, an XtremeAir XA42 aerobatics plane, and a Super-Comp-Dragster.
Discovery Channel did a documentary titled Idris Elba: Fighter, which looked at the actor’s year-long training for mixed martial arts and kickboxing training, which culminated in Elba’s match against Lionel Graves at London’s York Hall.
In 2016, Idris Elba was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth II for his services to drama.
