With seemingly every celebrity couple breaking up these days, it’s so nice to see one of our favorite celeb couples, Law & Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay and Younger’s Peter Hermann still going strong!
In fact, Hargitay, whose show is about to enter its record-setting 21st season, took to Instagram on Thursday to wish her handsome hubby a happy birthday with an absolutely adorable post.
Hargitay shared two photos of Hermann holding up a cake and captioned the post, “Happy Birthday Peter Hermann #GermanChocolateCake how does he get #Younger every year???”
Hermann, who turns 52 years old today, and Hargitay met when he first appeared on Law & Order: SVU as Trevor Langan back in 2002. Though Langan is definitely not the character with the best morals — he is a powerful defense attorney. But he’ll always have a special place since he helped Mariska’s character, Olivia Benson, adopt her son.
Hermann and Hargitay tied the knot back on August 28, 2004, which means they are less than two weeks away from celebrating their 15-year anniversary as husband and wife!
They also have three children together — a 13-year-old son name August, a daughter named Amaya who they adopted in April 2011, and a son named Andrew, who they adopted in October 2011.
Hermann was born in New York City but his parents were German and took him back, where he lived for 10 years. When they returned to the States, he was able to learn the language without much of an accent.
His first acting role was on the CBS soap Guiding Light, where he played Dr. Michael Burke from 1997-98. Guest-starring roles on other shows followed and in 2003, he played Wayne Kabak on All My Children. After that, his career took off.
Hermann currently stars on the hit TV Land show, Younger, in which he plays publishing editor Charles Brooks. While he has been on that show since 2015, he’s also been a recurring character on the CBS drama Blue Bloods as Jack Boyle since 2012.
