She’s policed and protected. She’s spoken for the dead. And she assited the Dixie Chicks in disposing of the dreaded Earl. Now, actress Lauren Holly is gearing up to celebrate a very special milestone.
And that’s because she was born on October 28, 1963, in Bristol, Pennsylvania, which means that this fan-favorite is turning 57 years old today! Holly’s acting career took off early and has been non-stop ever since.
She made her film debut in the teen dramedy Seven Minutes In Heaven. Subsequently, she spent three years playing Julie Chandler on the ABC daytime drama All My Children (1986-1989).
In 1992, Holly landed the role of Deputy Sheriff Maxine Stewart in David E. Kelly’s drama series Picket Fences. By the time the program ended its critically acclaimed, four-season run, Holly had become a major star, thanks to appearances in feature films such as Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story (1993), the Jim Carrey vehicle Dumb and Dumber (1994), and Sabrina (19995).
Holly’s other film credits include the comedy Down Periscope (1996), Oliver Stone’s sports drama Any Given Sunday (1999), and the Mel Gibson/Helen Hunt effort What Women Want.
On the television front, Holly landed a recurring role on another David E. Kelly show — the medical serial Chicago Hope (1999-2000), and she guest-starred on series like Becker (2001) with Ted Danson, Providence (2002), and CSI: Miami (2003).
Between 2005 and 2008, Holly starred on NCIS as Director Jenny Shepard – a job which reunited her with former Chicago Hope co-stars Mark Harmon and Rocky Carroll. Afterward, she played Betty Rogers, M.D. on the Canadian crime series Motive and in 2018 she joined the cast of Designated Survivor in the recurring part of Lynn Harper.
Holly’s resume also contains a plethora of TV movies and miniseries, chief among them playing Ethel Kennedy in Jackie, Ethel, Joan: The Women of Camelot (2001), King of Texas (2002), Just Desserts (2004) which reunited her with Picket Fences co-star Costas Mandylor, and Too Late to Say Goodbye (2009) with Rob Lowe.
Holly is the proud mother of three sons – Henry, George, and Alexander – whom she adopted with her ex-husband, Francis Greco. Entertainment Hub would like to wish Lauren Holly a very happy birthday and you can too by clicking on the Twitter link below.
