Kelly Ripa has three perfect children with husband Mark Consuelos, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t have a regret.
The talk show host opened up about why she would’ve liked to have had one more child during an episode of Live With Kelly and Ryan on Tuesday, February 5.
“I am regretful that we didn’t have more. There is [sic] many different reasons. First of all, triangulation,” she told her co-host Ryan Seacrest.
“When they are small … you always have two against one. It is just the way it is, it’s unavoidable.”
She continued, “But I also just loved having them. I adore them as the grownups that they’ve become … but when they are tiny, they are just so adorable. And they say amazing things, and I miss all of that.”
Kelly and Mark, who met while their respective characters, Hayley and Mateo, fell in love on All My Children and married in 1996, have 21-year-old Michael, 17-year-old Lola, and 15-year-old Joaquin.
The 47-year-old also congratulated her close friend Andy Cohen on the birth of his first son, Benjamin Allen.
“I want to start by congratulating our dear friend Andy Cohen who had a baby, Benjamin Allen Cohen,” she said.
“I was honored to practically be in the delivery room, on the phone, with my friend Bruce Bozzi who was actually in the delivery room. He named the baby after his grandfather.”
In fact, she got a bit emotional talking about the Watch What Happens Live host becoming a dad.
“He looks like he’s been born to do this his whole life. I’m getting emotional because he has been at times a surrogate dad to my own kids,” Kelly said wiping tears away.
“He is a great family man, and I am so happy and thrilled for you both because this baby is the luckiest baby.”
