On Dynasty, Alexis Carrington Colby lived in a lavish penthouse. Joan Collins, who portrayed the legendary character, not surprisingly, has a gorgeous dwelling as well — only now, that home is on the market!
Collins’ home is featured on Top Ten Real Estate Deals. The property is described as a “Manhattan pied-a-terre” and is up for sale for nearly $2.1 million.
Collins‘ New York residence is located in the Dorchester in Midtown Manhattan. It is described as “a combination of three units in a white glove co-op only a few blocks to Central Park, fine dining, and shops.” Collins and husband Percy Gibson bought it in 2002 shortly after they were married.
The press release describes the unit as: “Open, airy and sunny with its many windows, one of Joan’s favorite things about the condo is its 16 closets. Built in 1957, there are two master suites in separate wings and a third guest bedroom.”
The actress began her career as a child actor. Her father was a talent agent who handled the careers of singer Tom Jones, the Beatles, and Joan’s sister, Jackie Collins, a successful novelist who penned such books as Hollywood Wives.
Collins was a working actress for years, appearing on such shows as Batman, Mission: Impossible, and Star Trek and in films including Seven Thieves, The Road to Hong Kong, and The Adventures of Sadie. But she went to that next level thanks to acclaimed TV producer and series creator Aaron Spelling.
He and the other Dynasty producers had Sophia Loren in mind for the role of Alexis Morel Carrington, Blake Carrington’s (John Forsythe) ex-wife, who made a dramatic courtroom entrance at the end of Dynasty Season 1. When that idea fell through, Collins won the part, making her a household name in the process.
In 1983, she won the Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Drama. The following year, she received a Primetime Emmy nomination for playing Alexis. Another honor came in 2015 when Queen Elizabeth II named Collins a dame (the female equivalent of a knight) in recognition of her charitable work.
Collins portrayed the role of Alexandra Spaulding on 2002. Recently, she completed her role as Adelaide of Savoy in the international series Glow & Darkness with Denise Richards and Jane Seymour. Currently, Collins resides in London and summers in Saint-Tropez in the South of France.
The New York property is listed by Carolyn Weiner-Trapness, Brown Harris Stevens’ Broadway office, New York City. Check out this YouTube video to see Joan Collins’ condo.
