Fans of the Beatles are getting an early Christmas present as the legendary Paul McCartney took to his social media to announce some fun news.

Paul McCartney Touts New Film

“Peter Jackson has released an exclusive sneak peek of his upcoming documentary ‘The Beatles: Get Back’ for fans everywhere to enjoy,” the legendary singer wrote on Twitter, above a video of the director telling more about the upcoming film.

Sitting in front of musical instruments, Jackson explains he’s in his cutting room getting the documentary finished.

“This film was due to be finished round about now, but like the rest of the world, it’s been affected by the COVID pandemic,” Jackson said. “The only good thing really is that we are editing the film in New Zealand, and now that our country has largely stamped out the virus, we are able to come back into the cutting room and carry on with the editing we are doing.”

The sneak peek offers glimpses of footage from all of the Fab Four — John Lennon, McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr, and Jackson explains that there are over 56 hours of never-before-seen Beatles footage to sort through to create the finished project.

“We’re about halfway through the edit now, but because the film has been delayed until 2021, we thought it was a good time to give you a sneaky of what we’ve been working on, and the sort of vibe and energy that the film’s going to have,” Jackson said. “Hopefully it will put a smile on your face during the bleak times of the moment.”

So, while this isn’t a trailer or a specific sequence, he noted it’s a montage of moments that will be included in the final documentary.

Among the “moments” is Ringo Starr wishing people a good morning in the recording studio, the entire Beatles lineup having some fun recording during Get Back, and Lennon jokingly telling a sound mixer not to interrupt them during the playing of one song.

The Beatles: Get Back opens in theaters on Aug. 27, 2021 and it looks like it will be a thrill for any fan of The Beatles or music in general.
